Winter Design Ideas

Published: December 23, 2022

As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, we prepare for the December holidays and the new year. There’s so much to keep track of-gift lists, groceries to buy, events to schedule. Here are a few themes and ideas to help keep track of it all.

P.S. All fonts featured in layouts are free from various websites. They’re linked under each image.

BONUS! Scroll to the end of the post for FREE winter themed digital stickers.

We also have winter themed digital stickers in our shop.

Year of the Rabbit digital stickers coming soon!

MISTY SUNRISE

One of the best things about winter is cold mornings warmed up with a hot beverage.

EXAMPLE LAYOUT

Cool colors, fun fonts, and cute stickers help turn this weekly page into a winter wonderland.

COLOR IDEA

  • Dark Mist: #698489

  • Medium Mist: #93ABB0

  • Light Mist: #CDD8DA

  • Warm Tan: #EAD5C3

  • Brown: #877363

  • Green: #ADB88F

DESIGN TIPS

Ever heard of dingbat fonts? Instead of containing letters, they actually have shapes like the snowflakes in this picture! You install and use them like you would any other font.

They’re fun to use as bullet points and markers. For instance, try using one color to indicate an item still needs to be done, then change it’s color when complete.

FIRESIDE

Crackling fireplaces and hot cocoa. Name a cozier pair.

EXAMPLE LAYOUT

Transform a blank page into a warm, traditional holiday weekly spread with fireside colors and whimsical fonts.

COLOR IDEAS

  • Orange: #E08B51

  • Yellow: #ECC474

  • Deep Orange: #CB7C34

  • Dark Red: #9C4531

  • Blue: #709DA5

  • Brown: #664A3D

DESIGN TIP

Search the “Gothic” fonts section of DaFont or the “Blackletter” section of FontSquirrel, to find free fonts that look like Santa’s workshop signage.

NEW YEARS

As a Japanese American in Hawaii, New Years is a big deal with as many family traditions as Christmas (if not more). My family and I thoroughly clean the house, pound mochi, and make sure we have a kadomatsu (which we used to make annually) to usher in good fortune and a prosperous New Year.

EXAMPLE LAYOUT

Blank spreads are a great place to solidify plans and ideas, create vision boards, and brain dump.

Though I don’t normally have specific resolutions, I often pick a few themes to focus on in the coming year. I transformed this page into a kawaii (cute) worksheet to prepare for next year using our upcoming Year of the Rabbit sticker set.

Fonts Featured: Abalone Smile + Warung Kopi

COLOR IDEAS

  • Soft Tan: #DFD6BC

  • Light Green: #ABBE8A

  • Dark Green: #697E45

  • Soft Blush: #DD8882

DESIGN TIPS

Create a shadow-like effect for page titles and section headings.

  • Use text tool to type your page title.

  • Copy and paste it.

  • Change the color of the copied title.

  • Offset it slightly by moving the copied title up and left.

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!!!
