HOW TO INSTALL A NOTABILITY NOTEBOOK

DOWNLOADED FROM DROPBOX

INSTALL A NOTEBOOK | USING AN IPAD

STEP 1

*MAKE SURE NOTABILITY IS INSTALLED ON YOUR IPAD
**IF YOU HAVE A DROPBOX ACCOUNT, MAKE SURE TO HAVE DROPBOX INSTALLED AND YOU ARE LOGGED IN

On rare occasion, you might be asked to download a notebook directly from my Dropbox account. I will send you an e-mail with a link to the file. Open the Mail app on your iPad, navigate to the e-mail, and tap on the link within it. One of two scenarios will happen. If you HAVE a Dropbox account and have the Dropbox app installed on your ipad, the app will automatically open. Please continue to "STEP 2A" if this is you. If you don't have a dropbox account, Safari will open. Please continue to "STEP 2B" if this applies to you.

STEP 2A
WITH DROPBOX ACCOUNT

Within Dropbox, a popup window will show the contents of your download. Tap on the Three-Dot Icon     located in the window's upper right corner to open a download menu. Next, tap on "Save to my Dropbox". In the Save to Dropbox Menu, tap on "Choose a Folder..." and select where you would like to save the file within Dropbox (If you don't complete this step, the Save Button will be greyed out and untappable). When you are finished, tap on Save Button in the upper right corner of the menu. Your notebook is now saved to Dropbox. Close the notebook menu by tapping on "Cancel" in the upper left corner.

Dropbox should have automatically opened the folder containing your notebook. Locate your notebook PDF document and tap on the Three-Dot Icon     under the PDF name to open a menu. Tap on "Export". Within this menu, tap on "Open In..." to bring up another menu. Scroll horizontally through your apps, locate Notability and tap on it. A Send to Notability Menu will open giving you the option to "Create New Note" or "Add to Existing Note". For purposes of this tutorial, tap on "Create New Note". A menu will open allowing you to change your notebook's title, its subject, and page range to be imported. When you have finished modifying these values, tap on "Import" located in the upper right corner of the menu. Your notebook is now imported into Notability!

STEP 2B
WITHOUT DROPBOX ACCOUNT

A Dropbox tab will open within Safari that shows the individual files available for download. You can download them all at once into a zip file by tapping on the "Download" button in the upper right corner of the main window, then tapping on "Direct download" in the popup menu. When Safari asks if you would like to download the zip, tap on "Download" to begin downloading the file.

You can check the download process by clicking on Safari's Download Icon     in the upper right corner of the screen. Once your download is finished, click on the Magnifying Glass Icon     next to the file. Your Files App will automatically open to the location of your download (located in your iPad Favorites folder). Feel free to move the file to a different location.

Tap on the zip file to unzip it. Open the folder and navigate to the pdf notebook you would like to import into Notability. Tap on it to open a preview of the document. Next, locate the Share Icon     in the upper right corner of the screen. Tap on it to open a menu, locate and tap on the Notability icon in the app section. A "Send to Notability" popup will appear asking whether you would like to create a new note or add to existing note. Tap on "Create New Note". Another menu will appear where you can modify the pdf's title, subject, and page range to import. When you are ready to import the pdf, tap on "Import" in the upper right corner of the menu. A popup will confirm that your notebook has been sent to Notability.

STEP 1

*MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED AND ARE LOGGED INTO YOUR CLOUD-BASED ACCOUNT ON YOUR COMPUTER

On rare occasion, you might be asked to download a notebook directly from my Dropbox account. I will send you an email with a link to the file. Using your email app or web browser, navigate to the email and tap on the provided link. A web browser tab will open that shows the documents contained in the download. Click on the Download Button in the upper right corner of the screen to open a menu. click on "Direct download". The file should now be downloaded to your PC.

STEP 2
TRANSFER NOTEBOOK FROM PC TO CLOUD

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to your file which should be located on your pc in your "Downloads" folder (C:\Users\"YOU"\Downloads), unless you changed the default download location within your web browser. Move the file into your preferred Cloud Storage (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.)

IMPORT NOTEBOOK FROM CLOUD TO NOTABILITY

Using your iPad, open Notability. Within the All Notes menu, tap on the     Import icon and a popup menu will open. Select your appropriate Cloud-Based App and navigate to where your notebook is saved. A "Send to Notability" menu will open and ask if you want to create a new note or add to existing note. For this guide's purpose tap on the "Create New Note" button. A "Create New Note" menu will open where you can modify the notebook's title, subject, and range of pages to import. When you are ready to import the file, tap on "Import" in the upper right corner of the menu. You can now close out of the notebook menu by tapping on "Done" located in the upper right corner of the menu. Congratulations, your notebook has now been imported into Notability.
